Flirt with Ice Cream Cone Heels

20 Aug

melissa-karl-lagerfeld

One of the most anticipated collection from Melissa  x Karl Lagerfeld is now available in stores. I like the concept, combining Melissa’s classic Incense heel with an unexpected glittery cone at the back of the shoe.

If this was me few years ago, I would have been one of the first few to place a pre-order on these beauties but now that I’ve got my own shoe line, hmmm kinda overwhelmed with the amount of shoes I’ve got.

But hey.. Kaiser Karl ain’t the only one who came up with the kitschy ice cream cone heels.

Other designers like Steve Apeah,  made a pair of pumps with real ice cream cones. Synthetic resin was used to stiffened the heels, wonder if its strong enough to uphold the weight. This pair won him the Crazy Shoe Award 2011 in Vienna. Can’t seem to find any other works from him besides this.

Another designer that had the same concept is Aycin Aydogan of Oyee Design Launched in 2010 and her signature is hand painted designs on leather. This is pretty wearable, I like the colour combination, gives the wonderpop feeling.

From Irregular Choice. Not surprise that they did a version too, it’s so their style. This pair has a picnic feel to it, they have other versions that are pretty much in your face.  Even their website’s kinda trippy. So far, theirs is the only pair that has the ice cream cone heel in 3d!

If I’ve to pick, I’ll still go for Karl’s version. I love the glittery part and plus, it’s Melissa – the signature bubblegum scent. My fav pick is the White Lime Gloss pair, I like how the colours are soft and subtle. Just hoping someone out there will get me a pair *dumdeedumdeedum* , not that I need another PAIR of shoes. It would be a nice addition to my shoe rack 🙂

Flirt with Scott Stephen

Scott Stephen

“I gather materials and push them beyond their conventional characteristics. I’m rarely happy with each component unless I’ve spent hours creating it.” – Scott Stephen

Oh how I love fancy headbands

My first buy from Scanlan & Theodore and I’m pretty sure I’ll be paying more visits there now :p

Scott Stephen is a Scottish designer and did couture fabric for Gaultier and Dior. He has also collaborated with FrostFrench(fashion label by Sadie Frost, Jude Law’s ex wife), Swarowski and Collette Dinnigan (Australian fashion designer).

The Salesgirl from Scanlan and Theodore did mentioned that Scott Stephen is one of the top milliner/headwear designer in UK and made hats for Princess Diana and Elton John.

Flirt with mid-season sale at Gorker Gallery

4 Jul

A Sunday well spent: mid-season sale at Gorker Gallery wtih items from Limedrop, Lenko, Trimapee, Who Am Eye and Thomas Finch. Brands that I won’t be able to afford/not worth buying at a full price 😀

The 3-day bender sale was held at a small space in a quiet alley, just off Smith Street.

I managed to grab some good buys: 1 Limedrop top, 2 Trimapee Leggings, 1 Thomas Finch t-shirt and 1 bag from Limedrop.

“Why do you need a photo of me? Why can’t you take a photo of the shirt?”SSWTR designer

The designer decided to stay anonymous as she wants the works to be the focal point. But with my Google-Fu skills, I managed to dig up the brilliance behind SSWTR : MARY PING

I came upon this brand a couple years ago because I was looking for a certain pair of shades… I’m still contemplating wether to get it or not, its USD100/pair… I love it, but would it look funny?

SSWTR No.16 Sunglasses Collection (notice that some are foldable, great for us girls with small bags >.<)

The core concept of this brand is an experimental study of fashion basics which look into the depths of everything and spiked them with humour.

Mary Ping is an American designer based in New York with her works featured in films and exhibitions.

I enjoy navigating SSWTR’s website. Kinda reminds me of my mockup for Anrealage. We must be using the same Javascript plugin 😀

Flirt with I didn’t get to stay at the Lost and Found

17 Jun

My application to stay in the Lost and Found hotel was unsuccessful. Bummer… (miss_vanity, hopefully you have better luck)

The Lost & Found Hotel Room is open for three months from 1 June to 31 August 2010 and anyone can apply to stay at the hotel room free of charge. I know it sounds pretty unreal but that’s what they offer. If successful, you are able to stay for up to 3-4 nights, and you can bring a guest too!

Stockholm Creator's Inn

This concept is based on  Stockholm’s Creators Inn by Swedish clothing label Elvine, design agency Next Century Modern and hotel Scandic Malmen.

Apparently the Lost & Found Hotel provide Aesop products… Well, I’m gonna try my luck again 🙂
