Flirt with Ice Cream Cone Heels

20 Aug

melissa-karl-lagerfeld

One of the most anticipated collection from Melissa  x Karl Lagerfeld is now available in stores. I like the concept, combining Melissa’s classic Incense heel with an unexpected glittery cone at the back of the shoe.

If this was me few years ago, I would have been one of the first few to place a pre-order on these beauties but now that I’ve got my own shoe line, hmmm kinda overwhelmed with the amount of shoes I’ve got.

But hey.. Kaiser Karl ain’t the only one who came up with the kitschy ice cream cone heels.

Other designers like Steve Apeah,  made a pair of pumps with real ice cream cones. Synthetic resin was used to stiffened the heels, wonder if its strong enough to uphold the weight. This pair won him the Crazy Shoe Award 2011 in Vienna. Can’t seem to find any other works from him besides this.

Another designer that had the same concept is Aycin Aydogan of Oyee Design Launched in 2010 and her signature is hand painted designs on leather. This is pretty wearable, I like the colour combination, gives the wonderpop feeling.

From Irregular Choice. Not surprise that they did a version too, it’s so their style. This pair has a picnic feel to it, they have other versions that are pretty much in your face.  Even their website’s kinda trippy. So far, theirs is the only pair that has the ice cream cone heel in 3d!

If I’ve to pick, I’ll still go for Karl’s version. I love the glittery part and plus, it’s Melissa – the signature bubblegum scent. My fav pick is the White Lime Gloss pair, I like how the colours are soft and subtle. Just hoping someone out there will get me a pair *dumdeedumdeedum* , not that I need another PAIR of shoes. It would be a nice addition to my shoe rack 🙂

Flirt with CHIYO – a fashion label with a kook

9 Apr

Took me a year…with all the planning, decision making, traveling (this, I do not complain), meetings, talking, getting pissed, being pissed at, stressing, many face palm moments, lost in translation, losing weight, gaining weight, $$$ poured out, more $$$ poured out… , my baby is finally ALIVE!!

Presenting…

Womenswear // Shoes // Accessories //

Image

// Design // Sui Generis // Contemporary // Kooky //

CHIYO brand personifies being ‘sui generis’ – of its own kind, by creating contemporary yet timeless pieces that can be worn anytime, anywhere. It is intended to produce clothing, shoes and accessory line that will fulfill those who yearn to be different.

CHIYO aims to captivate by creating bold clothes, unassumingly kooky shoes and expressive accessories that will undoubtedly have its wearer stand out from the rest. Asymmetry and geometry both serves as the core concept when creating each collection with various influences from Japan’s eccentric street style to Australia’s avant-garde architecture and colours.

Every piece of CHIYO has a certain personal touch to it from being handcrafted, hand-assembled to hand-printed, which adds to the unique aesthetic of CHIYO.

Flirt with the modern Talaria

4 Jul

My obsession for shoes with wings does not stop. Ever since my fondness towards Melissa + Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania collection, I’ve been actively looking for a pair in faux marble rosa or preta (though I was told by leen that it looked a bit ‘la la’ :/) This platform shoe had its debut at Westwood’s Spring 2010 Red Label Collection in London. It’s not a new product so most of the places are out and some online stores offer stock request but only available in August >.<

The shoe looks like a funkier version of a Talaria, the winged sandals that was worn by Hermes or Mercury, god of messenger.

Matt Bernson has a Talaria as well and it’s design closely replicates the traditional Talaria.

Now, what about a sporty looking Talaria?

Flirt with a Good Cobbler

4 Jul

Finding someone who offers fantastic service is a true blessing from heaven..especially when it involves one of my favourite things.. SHOES!

Not really a big fan of reviews (especially since I’m an SEO myself, I know a thing or two about reviews..heh), but I did checked out Vogue Forum to look at some recommendations on cobblers.

REKARIS SHOES & REPAIRS

I didn’t even know some of the services that they offered actually exist like new heels fashioned, colouring of shoes and handbags for weddings and special occasions.

Embroidered Boots made in Turkey. Got it from Soho, NY

After 2 years, I finally brought my embroidered boots that got stuck at the zipper to get it fixed.

(Left) without the flap, (Right) with the flap

The cobbler told me that the trick was to cut the extra leather flap inside and that’s the common cause for stucked zippers. The flap’s purpose is to act as a wind breaker but I think we can all agree that it’s unlikely to have a profound effect for shoes.

Great service and great people with high spirits. You can see they are enthusiastic about their works.I am so gonna bring all my shoes there to get them fixed and cared.

Oh, did I also mentioned that I got the boot fixed F.O.C :p

Flirt with Imogene Barron

23 Jun

I wish I have her job: Imogene Barron. She’s a fashion director for Yen and Dazed&Confused magainzes. Plus stylist for Lee, MTV…fashion director in Fashion Week for Gorman and Jessie Hill.. ahhhhhhh…

Was looking through her portfolio and I end up making a replica of the Lee’s Spring/Summer 2008 Campaign. I’m selling the dress that I’m wearing in my online store. It’s brand new and I’m getting rid of it coz I’ve got a similar one (it was one of those impulsive buys >.<)

Minimalistic and quirky..

For 'Supernova' Yen No. 34 Magazine

'No safety helmut' tribute to Helmut Newton for Oyster Magazine

'Tiah in Adidas' love want #2 (Imogene makes pregnant lady looks hawttt)

Jessie Hill Spring/Summer 09 Lookbook (want that...cape-thingy!)

Sunglasses: Chloe black trim sunglasses

Bracelet: Tom Binns for Disney Couture – Alice themed multi chain bracelet

Ring: Aurelie Bidermann Gold Plated and Patina gold ring

Bag: Villador Large bow shoulder bag

The illustration is inspired by Freja Beha’s look by Patrick Dermarchelier for ‘Urban Renewal’ in Vogue UK. Love her edgy looks. She’s probably the only runway model out there that’s got 16 tattoos on her body.

Flirt with Sex and the City II

14 Jun

Because I couldn’t find a runway picture of the grey and blue lady dragon shoes, I’ve decided to put ME! Glad I picked this colour coz it’s so easy to match, tho I stil have my eyes on the peach and black heart pair >.<.

Jacket: Topshop, Top: Staple, Belt: Kate Sylvester, Skirt: Karen Millen, Shoes: Viv Westwood, Acc: Alannah Hill

These shoes are amazingly soft but its height got me tired around the knees. It’s one of those pairs where I’ll need the full green man when crossing the road.

The difference between a Chinese and  Japanese restaurant is that the Japs do take their holidays seriously. Both of our usual Jap places, Shoya and Kenzan, weren’t open because of the Queen E’s birthday so we decided to settle for an alfresco lunch at Ca De Vin.

Vintage lookin' Schweppes Lemonade

After a rather slow and ‘oily’ lunch (everythin’ seems to be soaked with oil), we girls took the scenic route passing by Miu Miu, Chloe, Marc Jacobs.. to catch our prolonged movie date!! SEX AND THE CITY 2.

The highlight of this movie is FASHION and Patricia Field never failed to impress me with her work in SATC. I usually dig Carrie’s style but this time around I’m fascinated with all the character’s styles.

The rather quirky Patricia Field

Thought the dark queen lace headpiece that Carrie wore was kinda random but I LOVE IT…and it can be made to order for $400!! There are also other outfits, not the same but similar ones from the movie, available in the Patricia Field online store. All illustrations are done by Aaron Potts. He creates greeting cards with world of high fashion runways and exclusive design ateliers..very chic!

Witty and Sassy, here are some of the quotes from the movie

Miranda: “You brought a dog to a wedding?”
Samantha: “Well it’s a gay wedding, what’s one more little b*tch?”

Samantha [on the phone with Smith]: “Honey, I have to go I am pulling up my panties to get to a lunch date”

Charlotte: “So your going to the premiere with Smith as friends?”
Samantha: “Yes, but I may throw him a f*ck if I like the movie.”

Samantha: Lawrence of my Labia”

Carrie: “You have to take the tradition, and decorate it your way”

Flirt with Vivienne Westwood Grey Lady Dragon Heart Slingback

13 Jun

If someone asked ‘Is brushing your teeth the first thing you do in the morning?’, I would have to shamefully say No. I can’t help it but pressing Command + T (for all you Mac users, you’ll know what I’m talking about) three times is the first thing I do just right after I get my ass outta bed. Facebook, Twitter and Gmail are enough to distract me from the importance of dealing with daily hygiene first and even bladder relieved. Being a sucker for shoes, I’ve decided to splurge my first Aussie paycheck on what else.. SHOES! It was that thought that somehow trigger Facebook into showing me the Christian Louboutin Sales!

Christian Louboutin Satin Anemone

I’m pretty sure they aren’t knockoffs, probably old stock coz I remember seeing the SATIN ANEMONE PUMPS like 2-3 years ago? Would so get that pair if it wasn’t freaking 5 inches! The other pair that I oogle’d over was

Christian Louboutin Leopard Bootie

the Leopard Bootie. I like how it has the fold over cuff with the side way cut and that signature tease of red at the soles. It was selling for $ 985.00 $ 188.90 (81%off) !!! and just the other day I paid $110 for a Nine West! It’s only worth it to buy Nine West in Australia if you’re their staff.. right Eileen? Though its hot and so god damn cheap for a pair of Louboutin, I still have a doubtful feeling. I felt a strong calling from somewhere at the other end of the city.. a pair out there that’s waiting for my feet to fill in.

And there…right at 314 Little Collins St…Royal Arcade…. 2nd Floor…..at a shop called ‘SOMEWHERE‘  (see.. I was right about that calling from ‘somewhere’ :p)   It wasn’t new to my eyes, in fact the first time I laid my eyes on it, I thought it was pretty fugly. The longer I looked at it, I began to fantasize myself wearing it with all the clothes that I could pair with. And that’s when I decided to ask for a size 6…. in grey. Say hello to my Vivienne Westwood Grey Lady Dragon Heart Slingback..oh my love…

Lady Dragon Grey

Lady Dragon heart collection

When I opened the box, it has a familiar smell to it. It reminds me of Barbie, that rubbery plastic-y smell. Thought it’s a lil’ high for me, the material is so soft and comfy. Can’t wait to flaunt it to the girls tomorrow during our Sex and the City 2 session!!
